Welcome to Art of Play
Circus skills workshops for schools

Art of Play is a specialist provider of circus skills workshops to UK schools. Run by me, Jay Linn, a professional entertainer and workshop leader, I already have a wealth of experience trading as Jay Linn Circus Arts.

Art of Play workshops are fun, challenging, and inspiring, and make a great change from the rigours of the national curriculum. They can be just for fun, or incorporated into a wide range of school work.

With a proven formula of a morning show, workshops throughout the day, and an after school shop, Art of Play creates real excitement for the whole school. Children and adults alike learn about skills such as juggling and balancing, stilt walking and unicycling, diaboloes and devil sticks, using a huge range of equipment in a safe, co-operative environment.

To learn more about Art of Play, have a look around the site using the links to the left, or go straight to the workshop guide to find out what you can expect from a workshop, and what you will need to provide. You may also wish to have a look at the rate card to find out how much workshops cost.

Experienced, accredited, safe

Circus skills are inherently fun, but that doesn't mean that the boring bits get negelcted - insurance, accreditation, etc.

I have been teaching circus skills since the early 90s, with particular emphasis on schools' workshops over the last five years or so, during which time I have visited hundreds of schools. I also employ my circus skills as a professional entertainer.

I have £5m multi-incident public liability insurance, enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure, and thorough risk assessments and method statements. More importantly, I have an injury-free record of running workshops. For further information have a look at the documents page.

Circus skills workshops are for everybody, and for every body

Although Art of Play workshops are aimed at school pupils, they are suitable for children of all ages, from tiny to those receiving state pensions. We cheerfully encourage anybody and everybody to discover the pleasure of tackling a challenge, including dinner ladies, janitors, CAs, visitors, parents, even OfSTED inspectors!

Art of Play firmly believes that opportunities to try circus skills should be extended to anyone who chooses, and therefore we warmly welcome enquiries from any and all organisations and individuals. The participation of those with any kind or degree of physical, emotional, behavioural, learning, or other difficulties is enthusiastically encouraged.
